Hey Polkadot Crew!
I was told by someone special that I could change lives by telling my stories…..ummmm no!
It took me a while to believe it, then I had to get out of my own way…..well, that didn’t work either and more years passed by…… but then the universe sent me a few events that rocked me to the core and made me face many things in my life and in myself that I had hidden and avoided for as long as I can remember…..
I realize now, life is super short and I have wasted so much of it by letting the negative voices control me! No one is coming to change your life for you …..it is all up to you! So now here I am—scared and nervous but excited and loving every minute of my life and saying yes to things that make me terrified lol!
From early on in life, I was told I had no talent, and as someone with a deeply artistic and creative mind, those wounds cut deep and left a lifetime of scars. Those wounds held me back from opportunities that were offered to me time and time again and changed the path of my life forever, haunting me in all that I did. I have never felt "good enough" for anything I was ever offered to do or for the things I have accomplished in my life.
But now, just like Bazookabloo did......I am turning over a new page and will no longer be giving those negative voices or people the power and control to choose my life going forward. I'm here to learn and grow with all of you in hopes of helping you to heal too! (We all have something we cannot get past!)
My why: By sharing my life lessons one by one in my stories for children, I hope they will learn some of the basic lessons I missed as a child and that they can learn to embrace and love themselves for exactly who they are meant to be, unlike I did.
For adults, not only can you learn through the children's books, but I will also be opening up more and more about my life as I gain the courage to share the stories that shaped me and eventually led to the books. I hope that through them I can at least help one of you if not many of you. My ultimate goal is to use my life's pain to help others and is where I want to find my purpose!
"Enjoy the Journey" is my new life slogan, and I've made a promise to myself to embrace every opportunity and experience on this path. Facing my fears has led to the most healing and growth-filled journey of my life, and I am forever grateful that you are here to share it with me! Hi, I’m Jenny Westbrook, the creator behind Polkadot Pickle Books, and I’m so glad you're here! My journey into children’s literature started as a deeply personal healing process and quickly turned into a mission to help others heal, grow, and find joy. Through the Polkadot Pickle series, I’m able to share not only my story but also the lessons of kindness, gratitude, self-love, and mindfulness that transformed my life.
In addition to writing and illustrating, I’m also the heart behind Clockworks Design, where I express my creativity through graphic design, photography, and unique special-effect imagery. My passion for capturing moments and telling stories visually is something I weave into everything I do, including my books. You'll see that each of my illustrations is crafted with a touch of that creative energy, all designed to inspire positivity and reflection.
